Subjects Taught
First Grade

I graduated from Framingham State College in Framingham, Massachusetts.  Framingham State is the oldest continuously operated normal "teacher" college in the United States.  It was founded by Horace Mann in 1839.  I attended Framingham State a few years after that.  Framingham State is also known for its famous graduate, astronaut Christa Mcauliffe, one of the seven crew members killed in the Space Shuttle Challenger mission.

I taught autistic children at Spear Educational Center in Framingham, Massachusetts  for 2 years.  I taught kindergarten for a year at a private school in Hopedale, Massachusetts and kindergarten for a year in the public school in Hopedale.  I taught 4 year olds at Maples Methodist Church Preschool Program for a year here in Olive Branch.  I was hired at Olive Branch Elementary in early September of 1995 and have taught first grade or transition 1/2 at OBES since then.

I have been married since 1981 to Andrew Austin.  We have two children, our daughter, Evans and our son, Ian.  We moved from Framingham, Massachusetts to Olive Branch in 1994.  I am originally from Lancaster, New Hampshire and My husband is originally from Bronxville, New York.  Evans was born in Boston, Massachusetts and Ian was born in Fredrick, Maryland.  I was very active in Children's Ministries at our church, Central, in Collierville.  I  served for a week at our sleep-away summer camp, Camp Tsungani, for  16 years.  I went to Guatemala four times to serve on the mission field for a week.  I am now serving at my church, Highpoint.   I am Meme to two absolutely beautiful grandchildren.  Lucie Kate and Rickie.  Yes I know, Lucie and Rickie!  They are a special blessing and I love them more than words can express.  If you do not have grandchildren you will not understand.  If you do I know you know what I am talking about!
