Subjects Taught

I attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Kindergarten-6th and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I hold a WI teaching license and a MS teaching license.

This will be my 18th year teaching. I have taught 4 year old kindergarten-3rd grade; 2 years in 4 year old kindergarten, 7 years in kindergarten, 2 years in 1st grade, 1 year in 2nd grade, 2 years in 3rd grade, and 4 years K/1 transition. I absolutely love early elementary, especially kindergarten.

I am originally from Wisconsin, born and bred a Cheesehead!!! I have 2 amazing children, Elizabeth (21) and Clayton (20) and a new daughter-in-law Sarah.  Elizabeth is a senior at Mississippi State Universityl.  She is in the winterguard and the BSU ministry. Clayton is in  the United States Air Force and is being trained to be an aerospace propulsion engineer. My daughter-in-law is in college to be an Interior Designer.

I am the baby of 4 children. I have a sister, Debbie, and 2 brothers, Mark and Mike. I have an absolutely wonderful mother who taught me how to be an independent lady. My father passed away 2 years ago and I miss him dearly. He was my strength and foundation, the one I called when I needed to talk. I know he is in heaven and I know one day I will see him again.

I moved down south in 2001 leaving my amazing family behind. It was hard but I have learned to adjust to the south. I am still a die hard Packer and Badgers fan, carrying on the Schmitt tradition. I love life and live by the quote, "Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much!"

Our assitant is Roberta Stotlar and this is her first year at OBES. She is absolutely fabulous. Her background is strong in working with children, especially special needs children. She has 2 wonderful children and a grandson, whom she adores!  We are so excited to have her in our room. She has a heart of gold!!! She has been a Godsend to my classroom.
