Welcome to Kindergarten

August 17-21

Monday - Remember that your child needs to wear their blue ID braceley everyday!

Tuesday - Class fee is $12.50.  Remember your child's Communication Folder needs to be checked and signed daily!

Wednesday - Ask your child who his/her teachers are.  Did he/she say Mrs. Ford and Miss Alexis?  Ask them about their day.

Thursday - Ask your child about their new friends in kindergarten.  How many children can they name and tell you about?

Friday - Ask your child about the playground.  What is their favorite thing to do?  Do they like eating in the cafeteria?

Remember to check your real mailbox-snail mail!

Have you completed your 2020 Census?  Very Important!

May 4-8

Music Monday-Find five objects in your house that can be used as an instrument.  May the fourth be with you! HA!

Twin Tuesday-See how many things you can find in your house that work best in pairs. example-socks and shoes.  Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Wacky Wednesday- Dress in a wacky outfit and write a wacky story.

Throwback Thursday-Do some research about some things that happened in Olive Branch during a different decade. What is a decade? 10 years

Friendly Friday-Be nice to everyone and make something special for your MOM!  Remember Sunday is Mothers' Day!

April 27- May 1

Go yard camping!  Pitch a tent in your back yard, get your fire pit or camping stove going and toast some marshmallows.

Arrange a ZOOM time with one of their friends who is also at home.  Play I spy or charades from a safe distance.

You are going to have plenty of toilet paper tubes lying around your house so get them to make a cardboard tube construction set.

Join the rest of the nation and do P.E. with Joe Wicks every week day morning at 9am on You Tube.

Can you skip?  Now is a great time to learn.  How many times can you skip around your house?  Inside and outside!

April 20-24

Do a sight word treasure hunt.  Use labels, magazines, and/or any printed materials you have available.

See how far you can count.

Look for tadpoles.  Catch some and watch them grow.

Look at a map.  City, county, state, or country.  Where would you like to go when you can travel again.

Cook breakfast together.  While eating around the table together, take turns telling each other what you love, appreciate, and/or admire about them.

April 14-17

Make a pizza from scratch.  Reading, math, science, and social studies.

Can you tie your shoes?  Now is a good time to learn how.

Clean out your closet or chest of drawers.  Sorting, classifying and organizing.

Do a family art project.  Try to use things you already have at home.

April 6-9

Make a 10 frame by using the bottom of an egg carton.  Cut off the end 2 cups and you have a 10 frame.  Use counters you have around the house to explore all the ways you can make 10.  Example:  2 pennies and 8 nickels make 10 coins.

Take a bike ride around the neighborhood.  Now would be a great time to learn how to ride without training wheels.

Play a family game of Charades.

Die real Easter eggs.  Use the traditional kit or experiment using things in your yard, garden and /or pantry.

Happy Easter!

March 30-April 3

Do a family jigsaw puzzle.  Put a small table up and let everyone work on it when they want to or can.  When it is finished you can frame it.  Family Memories

The children can help with the yard work.  They can rake and they can pull weeds.  Nothing is more fun than playing in the dirt or jumping in a big leaf pile.

Bake a batch of cookies together.  Math and science in the kitchen!

Write words and math problems with sidewalk chalk in the driveway or patio.  You know it will rain soon anyway.

Go outside and take family photos.  When inside go through old family photos or albums together.  This can start great question and answer sessions.

March 23-27

Take advantage of eating 3 meals a day with your child/children.  Let them plan the menu and make a menu for the family to read.  They can list the foods and draw pictures.  They can set the table.  They can help you prepare the meals.  Let them do the measuring and anything else they can safely do.  Turn off the television and all devices and have a family meal with great conversation.  The children can help clean up after each meal.  Let the children draw about what they ate and what they liked or didn't using descriptive words.  Keep these and they will have a mealtime book at the end of all this.

Plant seeds like flowers, herbs, and/or microgreens in paper cups or egg cartons.  The children can measure the potting soil and plant the seeds.  Put them in a sunny spot and the children can watch them and water them everyday.  When the weather allows you can transplant them outside and the children will feel acomplishment and satisfaction.  They can also journal this just like a scientist.

Play board games and card games.  It is things like these that make wonderful childhood memories.

Parents do not get stressed out.  When you feel overwhelmed, go outside or in another room and take a time-out.  We are going to be okay!

March 20, 2020

Precious Pandas and Parents,

Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Linda miss seeing your smiling faces everyday.  The most important thing right now is to stay healthy and safe. Please listen to and follow the advice of our leaders and medical professionals.

While at home remember to do something educational everyday.  Reread the BAR stories that your child has been bringing home.  If you need copies of these stories please email me and I will send them to you.  Practice counting to 100.  Practice adding and subtracting.  This can be done using household objects.  You can also google most any skill and there will be a lesson, usually more, on u-tube.  If you have any questions or you need anything please email me and I will try to answer and/or help.

Love,

Mrs. Ford
