Stay connected

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am very excited to begin this new school year with you and your student.  I am married to Charles and have with two young girls, Autumn soon to be 6 and Hannah age 4.  When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and being involved in my church. I have a total of 13 years of experience teaching students with disabilities.  During this time, I have taught students of most all ages and have enjoyed all the joy and challenges it has brought.

Our goal and vision for this year is to be proud.

We will achieve this through: communication, relationships, understanding, and fun.

Communication:  I have learned over the years that we all have a preferred way to communicate, so I like to provide options. It is also important that I find the best way to communicate with your student and learn how they will communicate best with me.

  • Emaillatisha.mcgee@dcsms.org

  • ClassDojo:  I will be using ClassDojo for class news, pictures, and student behavior.   I will give you the information to access your student's account.

  • Phone: 901-674-8348. You can call or text me.  I will always return your call if I cannot answer and will text back as soon as I can.

  • Class folder: This will be sent home every day with your student.  I will send home information regarding your student’s progress in class and school news.

  • Behavior Plan: In addition to ClassDojo, I will be using the schoolwide behavior plan.  Your students' progress will stay in their folder.

Relationship:  Relationships are very important to me, both with the student and with you, their parent.  I would like us to develop this relationship with:

  • Your involvement in class activities

  • My consistency with students

  • Open communication

Understanding:  At some point this year, there may be some difficult moments, either with your students or with me.  An understanding ear, heart, and mouth will be important to get through these times.

Fun:  I want us all to be engaged in the students’ learning this year.  We will all have a lot of fun this year together!

We will all be proud as we commit to communicate, build relationships, understand, and have fun together.

Thank you
